The News Media and How they Distort Reporting to Promote Their Anti-Gun Bias
Background Information
The Associated Press, The Morning Call (Allentown, Pa.), and many other news organizations keep parroting the term "Assault Weapon", when reporting on the tragic killing of a Philadelphia Police Officer by three armed robbers. What the press failed to report was the three individuals had long arrest records and were let out on parole by liberals in the Philadelphia justice system.
The firearm used was an SKS, which, by design, is semi-automatic only. It is not capable of automatic fire, so it is not an "Assault Weapon. In 1994 congress and President Clinton perverted the definition of "Assault Weapon" by passing the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (also known as the Federal Crime Bill of 1994). The law banned dozens of firearms based upon ugly features, like bayonet lugs, and flash hiders. Even this legal perversion of the definition did not list the SKS as an assault weapon. Unfortunately, today, those who report and edit the news are more interested in mouthing the words of their allied politicians, like Ed Rendell, than doing honest research and reporting with accuracy. Watch for this derogatory term to continue to be used by the News Media.

Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a terrible murder of a police officer in Philadelphia. The news media made the gun the focus of the story. They called it an "assault weapon." Actually, the gun was not any different than most guns, except that it was used to kill a police officer. The media failed to report the real reason that three criminals were able to gun down the police officer - they were all out of jail on parole! Each one of them had been convicted of armed robbery, served reduced sentences, and been set loose by liberal parole boards in Philadelphia. When are we going to wise up, and demand that violent criminals not be given a second chance. Armed robbers should be punished by twenty years minimum and no parole, because what they're doing in an armed robbery is saying, "give me the money, or I'll kill you." Lock them up and keep them locked up until they're old and gray.
